NEUTRAL SPIRAL GUIDE TRAIN

We needed a solution for a prevalent SPJ rod issue – Tip Wrap.   Tip wrap is common and can happen to amateurs and pros, and tip wrap can break a rod tip if not careful.

The leading cause of tip wrap on SPJ rods is due to 2 main factors; light lines and long strokes.   Because we are always jigging facing the wind, with these combinations, tip wrap is almost inevitable.

To solve this issue, we adopted a spiral guide train. With a spiral guide train, guides near the tip are no longer on the plane of the blank but instead below the blank.   This will allow lines to slide off the rod, preventing tip wrap.

We also modified the guide train so that a lefty or righty can use the same rod.   The guide after the stripper is offset, so the line always returns to the reel centered.
